How to add Table of Content using Plugins

WordPress Plugins are the best and easy way to add functionality in WordPress.

There are multiple plugins available to create Table of content (TOC) in WordPress. I am using ‘Simple TOC – Table of Content’ to create beautiful TOC for my blog posts.

Install a Plugin to create easy table of content:

  1. After login into Admin Dashboard, navigate to Plugins -> Add New

2. You can either upload .zip file or search keyword for ‘Table of Content’

3. Choose ‘Simple TOC – Table of Content’ and click on Install Now

4. Click on Activate

5. After activation, Go to your WordPress posts and use your existing headings to create jump links.

Table Of Content (TOC) FAQs

First, identify the heading and sub-heading that you want to appear in the Table of Contents. Second, Insert the Table of Contents and then you can customize it as per your needs.
The table of contents should list all the headings and sub-headings that helps website visitors to understand the content and easy to navigate from one topic to another.
Go to "Appearance -> Widgets," then drag and drop the "TOC+" widget to the Sidebar widget area and then Click on Save button. The TOC will appear on the sidebar of all the posts.
It allows readers to jump directly to a specific section.
